Ready for more fun on the water?
Having learnt the basics in the Start Yachting Course and been captivated by the thrill of sailing, or if you have previous sailing experience the next step is the Competent Crew course, this will help you build up your skills, confidence and experience.
Competent Crew Inshore Course
Hone your sailing skills with the inshore competent crew course on the beautiful playground of Sydney Harbour. This sailing course is
taught aboard our Beneteau 33.7 and Sydney 36 sailing school fleet.
Pre-requisite: Start Yachting course or previous sailing
 experience and the knowledge of: the difference between
tacking and gybing, basic rules, sailing on all points, steering around a triangular course.
Format: 4 x 3 hour lessons, this timing is flexible - 1 lesson a week, all 4 in one weekend or whatever suits your schedule, let us know your preference. Weekend lesson postponement must be made prior to 1pm on Wednesday.
Inclusions: Safety gear, use of spray jackets

Ability After Course: Useful Crew Member
Competent Crew Offshore Course
The course is designed for sailors who want to consolidate their skills, and move to offshore and night sailing and RYA certification. The techniques and precise maneuvers you learn in this course will give you a deserved sense of accomplishment. This course is taught aboard our Beneteau 40.7 and Beneteau First 40 yachts.
Pre-requisite: Start Yachting course and/or Competent Crew Inshore or comparable experience.
Format: 2, 3 or 5 day live-aboard course.
Inclusions: All safety gear, use of wet weather gear, meals aboard

RYA certification: To achieve the RYA Competent Crew certificate you need:
1. A minimum 5 days of courses, including 3 days offshore. The minimum requirement is the Start Yachting Course and 1 x 3 day offshore. We recommend the Start Yachting Course, Competent Crew Inshore and either 1 x 3 day or 2 x 2 day Competent Crew Offshore courses.
2. You also need to demonstrate understanding and competence in the skills taught.
Sometimes additional sailing may be required to achieve the certificate.
