Docking & Berthing Course

Docking or berthing a boat, whether in a pen, alongside a T-bar pontoon, bow first or stern first; is a very daunting prospect for many sailors.
However, docking is not one of the hardest boat handling skills to learn. Practice makes perfect, but unfortunately not many people have the opportunity to repeatedly practice docking skills.
EastSail has put together a 3 hour boat handling course to teach docking skills, coming alongside and picking up moorings and will include lots of hands on manoeuvrings in a few different types of docking situations in a small class of no more than 5 people. This course will complement RYA courses.
Skills covered include:
- Reading the wind
- Predicting how the wind will effect docking manoeuvres
- Benefits of bow in or stern in
- Setting docking lines
- Boat handling coming ahead & going astern
- Fender placement
- Docking practice
- Picking up moorings
- There is no sailing on this course
