This practical training course is designed for intermediate level sailors, teaching skills that will enable you to skipper and charter yachts in Sydney or other fabulous cruising grounds worldwide! During this sailing course you will discover the pleasures and pitfalls of taking command.
You will have control of the yacht for short passages during which time your instructor will be on hand to offer advice and encouragement, and to ensure that your destination is reached safely. You experience being in charge of the boat, taking the credit when all goes well and learning how to improve when things don't go as well. These offshore courses are taught aboard our Beneteau 40.7 and Beneteau First 40 yachts.
Pre-requisites:RYA Competent Crew or equivalent - at least 5 days sailing in a lesson environment or a season racing. It is recommended that you have completed or are doing the RYA Dayskipper shorebased course.
Ability after Course: Be able to skipper a 10-15m yacht in familiar waters.
Course Duration:A minimum of 5 days live-aboard courses at Dayskipper level, either1 x 2 day + 1 x 3 day or 3 x 2 day or 1 x 5 day live aboard.
Certification requirements:1. A minimum of 5 days live-aboard courses at Dayskipper level.
2. Thorough understanding and demonstration of competence in the skills taught (see syllabus)
Books: We recommend the RYA log book ($15) and the Dayskipper practical handbook ($25) + postage $11 or the books can be collected from our office.
Costs: 2 day $655, 3 day $955, 5 day $1495.
